[edit] Common terms

  • A friend: Mysterious person who presented the first puzzle that brought everyone to the DarkDemonsCryGaia forums.
  • Cabal: A guild within TSW.
  • Church of Secrets: A Church which, most likely, does not exist: but theoretically wherein the "factions" supporting the Smoothie and the Shake have joined together peacefully in order to focus their efforts upon solving the Great Puzzle.
  • The Clockwork Society: A supposed "secret society" of puzzle solvers which absolutely does not exist.
  • Henry Hawthorne: Mission-giver in Kingsmouth that had weird reference to pre-reveal forum members. Basically, he is conspiracy theorist that has taken interest in the Illuminati. Mission dialogue that started the meme. There is also a thread in the forums that gives insight of how this started.
  • I still miss those kittens: Humourous reference to GDC 2011 gameplay video where Deputy Andy mentions out of the blue a story about his childhood.
  • Melissa: Name used on Twitter by Melissonomoi, the "bee keeper." Used in place of Melissonomoi for abbreviation.
  • Milkshake/Smoothie: Humorous reference to the drink featured in the first game trailer, where community members argued over the classification of the beverage. It has been confirmed to have been a milkshake.
  • Sherpa: A term often used either as a running joke and to refer to something as a "distraction", synonymous with Wagtail. Meme started with the event The Photo.
  • Static:
  1. The actual static which overcame the Sanctuary of Secrets website after A.B. went through the gate.
  2. Anything in general which appears to have no known significance, yet which manages to cause people to persist in staring at it - perhaps risking that they go insane.
  • Wagtail:
  1. Roald Amundsen's nickname/code for Nicolas Belmont ("the wagtail has arrived"), and it was used to address Aveline Belmont as well (she said the email was addressed to wagtail, which she assumed was herself).
  2. Another term used to refer to something that is a "distraction", or something that most likely serves no purpose but to distract community members from finding the answer to a puzzle. Meme started during the Code Name: Wagtail event.
